About

I am creative. Passionate about photography. An incurable image-maker. A bit of a collector. Eclectic. An encourager. A life-long learner. A fan of re-purposing all manner of treasures. And proudly vintage.

What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.

Photography

I have been passionate about photography the majority of my life. There is just something magical about using technology to capture and communicate connectedness, emotion, a sense of place. Starting with my Brownie Starmite, I have spent my life capturing and documenting life.

Genealogy

I was never a history buff so was more than a little surprised when I became interested in genealogy. I soon realized that I was using genealogy to establish the context for family photographs. Recognizing faces, knowing names is just the beginning. Genealogy provides another layer of information that helps us tell our stories.

What I blog about

Visual Storyteller

In high school, I was elected as “Most Talkative”. I would have preferred to be immortalized as “Best Dressed”, “Most Likely to Succeed”, really, most anything other than most talkative. However, I can not deny reality. My mother told me that when I was a toddler, she would try to make it a game: “See if you can be quiet until we get to the next stop sign….” Reportedly, I couldn’t.

The truth is I am imaginative, am a visual learner, have a good memory, and enjoy telling stories. Combine that with a love of photography and the result is creating and sharing illustrated stories.

It is my hope that not only will my social media efforts reach the next generation in my own family, but that it will also inspire and encourage you to keep your family’s stories alive. Gather your photos. Assemble your family tree. Start telling your family’s stories.

If you don’t, who will?
