Journey Together

I know, I know. You really didn’t want to click that button. If you are at all like me, you figured if you clicked it, a form would pop up requiring you to give me your contact information. Nope. That’s not what this is about.

I’m just meandering along a multi-faceted path and figure some other folks may be, too.

There’s the obvious Genealogy/Family History path.

Another path is that of Aging Gracefully. HA!

And yet another is related to Health and Fitness.

You may be a vintage human like me. You may be a young’un (as my old folks used to say). You may be wanting to improve your health and fitness.

Whoever you are, I am happy you’re here.

I am no expert in any of these topics. I am not providing professional advice or recommendations. I have no intention to sell anything.

I am an old Information Technology professional, a bit of a nerd who has always loved reading and research. I am logical and analytical mixed with equal amounts of creativity. I have so many personal interests/hobbies that I can’t imagine ever being bored.

A Beginning Bogger

The first version of this website was created in 2009. At the time, I was working as a free lance event photographer and needed a simple blog in which to share photos with my clients. Then in January 2010, I created a personal blog to share family photos and stories with family.

Neither the early version of this website nor my blog proved to be rewarding. However, the pandemic of 2020 gave me time to rethink, redefine my goals, develop a different strategy. and relaunch Art of Recollection.

That brings us to today.

I’m sharing my family history findings, facts, and fallacies on Instagram. The idea was, since none of my family was interested in family history and they weren’t especially interested in visiting any platform where I was sharing family photos and stories, to give social media a shot.

My theory was, if I share bite-size family stories on a platform family members are already using daily, then maybe, just maybe, they will become interested in our family’s history. All I hoped for is that they would develop some name and face recognition of their ancestors.

The theory has proven true and has exceeded my expectations.

This website is a supporting player in my set of technologies. Family history information will continue to be shared with an Instagram-first mindset, but sometimes I have more to say than will fit in a 1500-2000 character space. That’s where this comes in.

The invitation to you is just to come along for the ride.

“You may delay, but time will not, and lost time is never found again.”

~ Benjamin Franklin

I’m at a point in life where there’s more behind me than in front. I’m fine with that. What I’m not fine with is wasting precious time. Each of us leaves a legacy in our wake. Let’s make the most of it!
