“I, the said, Frederic Miller was born in Pennsylvania the County not recollected and lived until I was about ten years of age, my father killed by [persons] in the neighborhood and my mother and family moved to Shenandoah River in Pennsylvania, the County not recollected.”
“I then moved to Buckingham in Virginia where I lived about 20 years, I then moved to Wilkes County, North Carolina and lived [there] about 18 years. I then moved to Bedford County, Tennessee, one year. I then moved to Wayne County, Kentucky, where I now live…”
Drafted Into Service
Frederick was drafted in the service during the American Revolution in Buckingham County, Virginia, December 1780. He was primarily employed in wagoning for the Army, serving under Captain Charles Patterson, marching down to the lower parts of Virginia.
He was drafted a second time in July 1781 serving under Captain John Mosely. He marched through Old Williamsburg and to Little York in Virginia. He, again, was a wagoner until he arrived at York. There he was employed in entrenching.
“The day before Lord Cornwallis surrendered [19 Oct 1781] I was discharged; being much fatigued and my tour being our I returned home.”
